Service Pack 4 Cryptography Components Are Uninstalled

SYMPTOMS

After you uninstall Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 2 from your Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack (SP4)-based computer, your SP4 cryptography components may be uninstalled.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if you install Internet Explorer version 4.01 Service Pack 1 or Internet Explorer version 4.01 SP2 before you install Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 SP4.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, install Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 SP4 after you complete Internet Explorer 4.01 SP2 Setup.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
