Must Insert Disk While Installing Internet Explorer 4.01 SP2

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.01 Service Pack 2 for Windows NT 4.0


SYMPTOMS

When you perform a full installation of Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 2, you may be prompted to insert a disk to copy files for one of the Internet Explorer components such as Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard or Microsoft NetMeeting.


CAUSE

This issue can occur if all of the following conditions exist:

  • You are running a multi-user configuration.


  • Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 2 has previously been uninstalled.


  • An Internet Explorer component such as Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard or Microsoft NetMeeting has previously been uninstalled.



RESOLUTION

To work around this issue in the future, restart your computer after you uninstall an Internet Explorer component, and then reinstall Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 2.
