SUMMARYThis article describes how to install Internet Explorer without placing a Microsoft Outlook Express icon on the Desktop. MORE INFORMATIONTo install Internet Explorer without placing an Outlook Express icon on the Windows desktop, do not make Internet Explorer your default browser. To do this, use one of the following methods: Internet Explorer Administration KitWhen you install Internet Explorer using the Internet Explorer Administration Kit, you have an option during stage 3 of the installation process to choose to make Internet Explorer your default browser. Choose the option that does not make Internet Explorer the default browser.Internet Explorer CD-ROMWhen you install Internet Explorer using a CD-ROM, type the following command on the Run line<path>setup.exe /C:"ie5wzd /X:1"where <path> is the location of the Setup.exe file on the CD-ROM. If you do not have any browsers installed on your computer, Internet Explorer becomes the default browser. If you do have another browser installed, you are prompted to make Internet Explorer your default browser when you start it.
