SYMPTOMSWhen you attempt to gain access to a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protected Web site using Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0, Internet Explorer may generate an access violation in Wininet.dll. In Windows NT, you may receive a Dr. Watson error message. CAUSEThis behavior can occur if Internet Explorer is set to use HTTP 1.1 through a Microsoft Proxy 2.0 server that is set to use NTLM authentication only. RESOLUTIONA supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but
it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems
experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this
specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Internet Explorer service pack
