MORE INFORMATION

The steps in this article describe how to set up Internet Explorer to work with two different ISP accounts.

Create Two Dial-Up Networking (DUN) Connections

Use the Make New Connection wizard in the Dial-Up Networking folder to create two different DUN connections:
  1. Double-click My Computer, double-click Dial-Up Networking, and then double-click Make New Connection.

  2. Type a name in the Type a name for the computer that you are dialing box that helps you easily identify that ISP account.

  3. Verify that the correct modem is listed in the Select a device box, and then click Next.

  4. Type the area code in the Area code box, type the telephone number in the Telephone number box, click Next, and then click Finish.

  5. Double-click Make New Connection, and then follow steps 2-4 to enter the information for your second ISP account.

NOTE: Some ISPs may require the use of specific settings in your DUN connection to be able to connect to their service. If you are not sure, check the documentation from your ISP or contact them for specific requirement settings.

Modify Internet Explorer Connection Settings

Configure Internet Explorer to connect to the Internet through a local area Network (LAN). Choose the appropriate method for your version of Internet Explorer:

Internet Explorer 4.x

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Internet.

  2. Click the Connection tab, click to select Connect to the Internet using a local area network, and then click OK.

Internet Explorer 5

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Internet Options.

  2. Click the Connection tab, click Setup, click I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN), and then click Next.

  3. Click I connect through a local area network (LAN), click Next, click to select Automatic discovery of proxy server (recommended), and then click Next.

  4. Click No, click to clear the To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box and then click Finish check box, and then click Finish.

Connect to Your ISP Accounts

To make a connection to the Internet, double-click one of the new DUN connections you created. Type your user name and password for the ISP connection you chose, and then double-click the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop to run Internet Explorer.
