Pressing BACKSPACE Key in Text Input Box When Web Page Is Inactive Causes Browser to Move Through Browser History

SYMPTOMS

When you press the BACKSPACE key in a text input box on a Web page and the page is not active for a brief period of time, the browser moves back through the browser history.


CAUSE

This behavior occurs because of a timing issue in Internet Explorer.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Internet Explorer service pack that contains this fix.
