The "Launch browser windows in a separate process" option in Internet Explorer 5 and Windows 98 Second Edition (or "Browse in New Process" in Internet Explorer 4 and Windows 98) specifies whether a new process is created for each instance of Internet Explorer that is launched. With this setting disabled, all instances of Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer that are launched run within the same process. Enabling this setting can be useful for preventing one instance of Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer from affecting other instances if it stops responding. However, enabling this setting consumes additional resources and may affect Internet Explorer's performance. Additional query words:
