  • Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 5, 5.01 for Windows 98
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 5, 5.01 for Windows NT 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When you click an Internet shortcut on the Links toolbar, the Web page may open in a different Internet Explorer session. When this occurs, the link opens in the first browser window you opened.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the Internet shortcut is contained in a folder on the Links toolbar and you have multiple Internet Explorer sessions open.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, use either of the following methods:

  • Drag the link to the Address box instead of clicking the link. This method allows you to keep the link in the folder, but still open it easily.

  • Quit all but one Internet Explorer session or move the Internet shortcut into the Links folder.
