SYMPTOMSThe contents of a downloaded file may be displayed in the browser window instead of the Save As dialog box in Internet Explorer 5. CAUSEInternet Explorer attempts to detect when the Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) type of the downloading file is set to application/octet stream, which is the correct behavior according to Request for Comments (RFC). However, other browsers may not try to do anything with this MIME type, so the Save As dialog box is displayed for all downloaded files. STATUSThis behavior is by design. Additional query words:
