FIX: Cannot Add Primitive Method or Variable to Package

ID: Q156917

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Visual J++, version 1.0

SYMPTOMS

When you use the ClassView context menu to add a method or variable to a source file that includes a package statement, it fails if the variable or return type of the method is a primitive type. Visual J++ displays a message box with an error similar to the following:

Invalid token found in "..."
Where "..." is the signature of the variable or method that you attempted to add.

RESOLUTION

In order to add a method or variable in this situation, you have to type it in directly, rather than using ClassView.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem has been fixed in Visual J++ 1.1.
