SYMPTOMSWhen you change the value of a double or float variable in the Visual J++ debugger Watch window to a number beyond the data types absolute maximum or minimum value (or to NaN), the debugger puts 1.#INF0000000 (float variables) or 1.#IND00000 (double variables) in the Watch window edit control, which you can then no longer edit. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. When this code is compiled and run under the Visual J++ debugger, the variables dNaN, dInfinity, fNan, and fInfinity are read-only when viewed in the Watch window. You can view and change the values of dtest and ftest as expected:
