PRB: Certain Samples Don't Work in Visual J++ 6.0 Standard Edition

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Visual J++, version 6.0

SYMPTOMS

If you have the Visual J++ 6.0 Standard Edition and access the samples through the Web or the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) CD, the samples related to Data Access and COM components do not build or run.


CAUSE

The samples are referencing functionality that is solely in the Professional Edition.


STATUS

This behavior is by design.
