WD: MacWord Converts Side-by-Side Paragraphs Break Across Pages

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Word for the Macintosh version 6.0 and later converts text that has been formatted as side-by-side paragraphs in earlier versions of Word for the Macintosh into a table with the "Allow Row to Break Across Pages" option turned on. (To locate this option, choose Cell Height And Width from the Table menu, and select the Row tab.)


CAUSE

Word versions 6.0 and later convert side-by-side paragraphs in earlier versions of Word into a table. The "Allow Row to Break Across Pages" option is on by default.


WORKAROUND

To layout of the page from the previous version, turn off the Allow Row to Break Across Pages option. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Place the insertion point inside of the table.


  2. On the Table menu, click Cell Height and Width


  3. Click the Row tab and then click to clear the "Allow row to break across pages" check box.


  4. Click OK.
