The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSAfter you set the default file save type to HTML Document (on the Tools menu, click Preferences, and click the Save tab), clicking Save will save the document as HTML, but the document on the screen will not be refreshed. WORKAROUNDAfter you save the document, close and then reopen the file. When the document is reloaded, the updated version will be displayed. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available. MORE INFORMATION
If your default file save type is Word Document (on the Tools menu, click
Preferences, and click the Save tab), then when you save a document in the
HyperText Markup Language (HTML) format, Word saves the file, closes it, and
then opens the HTML version. Word goes through this process because HTML does
not support many of the formatting options available in Word. By closing and
reopening the HTML document, Word can accurately update the information that
appears on the screen to provide an accurate representation of the HTML document.
If your default file save type is HTML Document as stated in the Symptoms of
this article, then when you save it, it will not close and re-open the file.
This would need to be done manually.
