SYMPTOMSWhen you open a Word for Windows document that contains equations with special characters or symbols in Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition, the special characters or symbols may map to the wrong font causing them to display incorrectly (for example, they may be displayed as tiny squares on the page). When you print the document, the equations are printed without the special characters or symbols. RESOLUTIONThis problem has been corrected in a new Metafile Filter for Word 98 Macintosh Edition. MORE INFORMATIONIn Equation Editor, you can add symbols that are special characters used to build equations. Related symbols are grouped together on palettes that you select by clicking a button on the Equation Editor toolbar. The Symbol palettes are essentially an extension of your keyboard.
