To edit the Autoexec.bat file in Windows 98, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Information.


  2. On the Tools menu, click System Configuration Utility.


  3. Click the Autoexec.bat tab.

    To remove a line from the Autoexec.bat file, click to clear the check box next to the line you want to remove.

    To add a new line to the Autoexec.bat file, click New, type the line you want to add, and then press ENTER.

    To edit an existing line, click the line you want to edit, and then click Edit.

    To move a line up or down in the file, click the line you want to move, and then click either Move Up or Move Down.


  4. When you are finished editing the Autoexec.bat file, click OK.


  5. Quit System Configuration Utility, and then close the Microsoft System Information window.


  6. Restart the computer.
