SUMMARY
Microsoft Word 2000 does not convert files from WordPerfect versions
7.0 and 8.0. However, WordPerfect 7.0 uses a default Save As format of
WordPerfect 6.0, which Microsoft Word can convert.
MORE INFORMATIONAdditional Issues You May Encounter When You Convert WordPerfect 7.0 FilesThe WordPerfect 6.x converter ships with Word 2000 and is part of the Run from My Computer installation. To convert a WordPerfect 7.0 file, click Open on the File menu in Word, select the file, and click Open. Word converts the WordPerfect 7.0 document, provided it was saved with the default extension (*.wpd).If Word does not convert the file correctly, close the file without saving it. Then select the Confirm conversion at Open check box (on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the General tab), and try to open the file again. If Text Only (*.txt) is selected in the Convert File dialog box, select WordPerfect 6.x and click OK. This should allow you to import the file. WordPerfect versions 6.0, 6.1, 7.0, and 8.0 all use the same format for their files, but WordPerfect 7.0 uses a different header if you save a document using the "WordPerfect 7.0" Save As format option.
