To play DirectX games through a network firewall or proxy server, the following requirements must be met:

  • DirectX 6.0 or later must be installed on your computer.


  • Your network administrator must configure the firewall or proxy server to allow DirectX games to pass information through the firewall or proxy server.

To play DirectX games across a firewall, verify that all computers in the game are running DirectX 6.0 or later, and then ask your network administrator to configure the firewall to use the following settings:

  • Allow an initial outbound TCP connection on port 47624.


  • Allow subsequent inbound and outbound connections on TCP and UDP ports 2300-2400.


  • Set appropriate permissions for DirectPlay (Client).
