This article describes how to create a Pop3.log file for Microsoft Outlook
Express.
You can use the Pop3.log file to troubleshoot problems that may occur
when you receive e-mail in Outlook Express using the Post Office Protocol
(POP3).

To create a Pop3.log file, follow the appropriate method:
Outlook Express 4
- Start Outlook Express.
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the Advanced tab, under Logging Options, click the Mail Transport check box to select it.
- Click Apply, and then click OK.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5
- Start Outlook Express.
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the Maintenance tab, under Troubleshooting, click to select the Mail check box.
- Click Apply, and then click OK.
If you are running MSN, the Pop3.log file may be created and stored in the C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\username\Mail folder, where username is your MSN Member ID.
For Windows 98, if you are not using MSN, the Pop3.log file is created and stored in the C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Mail folder.
For Windows NT, the Pop3.log file is created and stored in the %Winnt%\Profiles\Username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Mail folder.
