BUG: Outlook Web Access Stops on Distorted Calendar Data

SYMPTOMS

The Internet Information Server (IIS) may access violate and stop running. When this failure occurs, Outlook Web Access (OWA) clients experience long browser delays prior to a time-out.


CAUSE

Corrupted data in a recurring appointment causes an access violation in Inetinfo.exe.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange Server version 5.5. For more information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Collaboration Data Objects for NTS version 1.2. This problem was first corrected in Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 2.
