PC Setup: Err Msg: API (SetRegKeyValue) Failed

• Microsoft Mail for Windows, versions 3.0, 3.0b, 3.2

SYMPTOMS

During the setup of version 3.0, 3.0b, or 3.2 of Microsoft Mail for Windows, the following error may appear:

API (SetRegKeyValue) failed

CAUSE

The API failed to write necessary information to the REG.DAT file.

STATUS

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
