ID: Q187035

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows NT Server NetShow Services version 3.0

SYMPTOMS

When you view a NetShow ASF file or stream with a computer that is using video cards with certain chipsets, you may experience choppy video, no video, or green flashes.

CAUSE

This problem is caused by the way certain video card drivers handle implementing Direct Draw YUV flipping. The following chipsets have demonstrated this problem:

  • ATI

  • S3

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, confirm that you are using the latest drivers for your video card. If newer drivers fail to correct the problem, try disabling Direct Draw YUV flipping by performing the following steps:

  1. Open an ASF file or stream from a NetShow server.

  2. From the File menu, select Properties.

  3. Click the Advanced tab.

  4. Choose Video Renderer from the "Filters in use" list, and then click Properties.

  5. Choose the Direct Draw tab.

  6. Click to remove the check from the YUV Flipping box.

  7. Click OK.

  8. Close the Media Player, and then run the Media Player again.
