|
The information in this article applies to:
-
Microsoft NetShow Theater Server version 3.0
SYMPTOMS
You may receive the following error message when you attempt to install
NetShow Theater Server 3.0:
Cannot initialize installation service on machine systemname.
CAUSE
Theater Server setup is unable to complete an install on the specific
system detailed in the above error message.
WORKAROUND
To resolve this issue, check the following:
- Verify that you have Local Windows NT Administrator privileges on all
of the Theater Server systems including the title server, the content
server, and the administrative workstation. Complete a NET USE *
\\MyTitleServer\C$ command from your content and administrator systems.
Then copy any large file from these systems to the title server drive
letter that was designated by the NET USE * \\MyTitleServer\C$ command.
This verifies the basic network stability, NetBIOS name resolution, and
proper Windows NT Admin privileges from the user account logged on at
the content and administrator systems to the title server.
- Verify that you have not modified any of the default shares or share
permissions established by Windows NT at the time you installed Windows
NT 4.0 Service Pack (SP) 3 on your title, content, and administrator
servers.
- Verify that you have not modified any of the default file or directory
permissions established by Windows NT at the time you installed Windows
NT 4.0 SP3 on your title, content, and administrator servers.
- If these suggestions do not resolve your issue, please complete the
NetShow Theater Server Problem Report Template before you open a
Service Request with Microsoft Product Support Services.
