SUMMARYNetShow Theater Server assumes a dedicated networking environment for the calculated maximum number of streams supported. This also assumes that there is no competing network traffic to reduce the available network resources. For example, the maximum number of possible streams per content server on a non-fault tolerant, NIC- limited Theater Server configuration is just under forty 2-Mbps streams on a full duplex 100-Mpbs network, and just under eighty 2-Mpbs streams on a OC-3 ATM network. There are multiple variables that can effect the maximum stream count
available from a Theater Server installation. In the example above, the
system being used is only NIC limited, but is not limited by other
possible factors such as content drive speed, SCSI bus performance, use of
Theater Server Fault Tolerance, and bit rate of the MPEG media,
(established during the installation of Theater Server).
