Video Does Not Display for 8 Seconds between Stream Switches

SYMPTOMS

When you use a multicast station to broadcast ASF content and you have stream switches from an audio-only file to an audio and video file, the video is not displayed for approximately the first 8 seconds.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you transition from a file with a low bandwidth to a file with a significantly higher bandwidth (greater than 20 percent).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows Media Services version 4.0.
