SUMMARY

When you double-click the HTML file (.htm) that makes up a data access page, the browser opens. Even though you create a data access page in Microsoft Access, the browser, and not Microsoft Access, is the default editor for data access pages.

A data access page is a separate HTML file that is stored outside your database. When you create the file, Access automatically adds a shortcut to the file in the Database window.

If you want to edit a data access page from within Access, use one of the following methods.

Method 1

Open the database that contains the shortcut to the page.

In the Database window, click Pages under Objects.

Select the page, and then click Design.

Method 2

Hold down SHIFT and right-click the file.

On the shortcut menu, click Open with.

In the Choose the program you want to use list, click MSACCESS. Click to clear the Always use this program to open this type of file check box, and then click OK.

The following file extensions automatically start Access as the default editor:
