ACC2000: Can't Create ADP or Page Using Windows Shortcut Menu

The information in this article applies to:

Microsoft Access 2000

Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.

This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and a Microsoft Access project (.adp).

SYMPTOMS

On the Microsoft Windows Desktop, if you use the shortcut menu to create a new Microsoft Access application, Microsoft Access is started, but you can only choose MDB in the Files of Type box. You can not use this method to create new data access pages or Microsoft Access projects.

RESOLUTION

You must start Microsoft Access, and then create a new data access page or Access project from the New command.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

Right-click the Microsoft Windows Desktop, click New, and then click Microsoft Access Application.

When Microsoft Access starts, click the arrow in the Files of Type box.

Note that you see only Microsoft Access databases or Microsoft Access workgroup files as choices.
