ACC2000: Can't Use ENTER to Move Data to Next Line of Wizard

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Label Wizard to create labels in Microsoft Access, you are not able to move field names to the next line of the label by pressing ENTER or ALT+ENTER.


RESOLUTION

To move a field name to the next line of the label in the wizard, you need to cut and then paste it. In the Label Wizard, use CTRL+X to cut and CTRL+V to paste.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Open the sample database Northwind.mdb.


  2. Use the Label Wizard to create a new report based on the Customers table.


  3. On the first screen of the wizard, accept the defaults, and then click Next twice.


  4. On the What would you like on your mailing label? screen, in the Available Fields box, double-click CustomerID and CompanyName.


  5. In the Prototype label box, add three spaces between CustomerID and CompanyName.


  6. While the mouse pointer is between CustomerID and CompanyName, press ENTER or ALT+ENTER to try to place CompanyName on the next line.

    Note that the CompanyName field does not move to the next line.
