ACC2000: Two Device Independent Bitmaps in Paste Special Dialog Box

ID: Q209072

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Access 2000

Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.

This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and a Microsoft Access project (.adp).

SYMPTOMS

When you click Paste Special on the Edit menu after copying a picture to the Clipboard, the Paste Special dialog box displays the following two choices for Device Independent Bitmap (DIB)

Picture (Device Independent Bitmap)
Device Independent Bitmap
These two choices are actually the same.

CAUSE

When you copy a Picture object to the Clipboard, Microsoft Access places Picture (Device Independent Bitmap) on the Clipboard, and then OLE code also places a Picture object on the Clipboard. Note that using the Paste Special command in other applications, such as Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word for Windows, may give similar results or additional combinations of the object.

RESOLUTION

Either of the two choices results in the same action. No extra memory is used to store extra objects; all the items in the list point to the same object.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
