ACC2000: May Lose Last Changes to Field When Closing a Page

This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and a Microsoft Access project (.adp).

SYMPTOMS

Changes to the last field that you edit on a data access page may be lost when you close the page. You do not get a prompt to save this change or a warning that the change will be lost.

CAUSE

You changed the value in a field, and then closed the page without moving out of that field or saving the record.

RESOLUTION

Before you close a page, make sure that you either move the pointer out of the last field that you change or that you save the record.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

Open the sample database Northwind.mdb.

In the Database window, click Pages under Objects.

Select View Products, and then click Open.

Change the Product Name of the first record. Do not move the pointer out of that field.

On the File menu, click Close.

Select View Products, and then click Open. Note that the Product Name still has the original value.
