SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Excel, when you create a PivotTable, or add a column field to an existing PivotTable, you may receive the following error message and the PivotTable is not created or the column field is not added. CAUSEThis error message appears when you add too many column fields to the PivotTable. The number of column fields that you can add to a PivotTable varies with the amount of data in the PivotTable and the memory available on your computer. WORKAROUND
When you create a PivotTable, limit the number of column fields you
use to three or four, especially when you create the PivotTable from
a large database. When you need to create a PivotTable with a large
number of fields, use row fields. Because row fields do not use as
much memory as column fields, you will be able to add more row fields
to your PivotTable than column fields.
