MSQuery: Cannot Create Paradox Index

SUMMARY

When you save Microsoft Query table with unique indexes using Paradox as a data source, you may receive the following error messages:

  • Illegal index definition


  • -or-

  • Paradox primary index name must match table name



MORE INFORMATION

Borland Paradox 3.5 only allows the primary key index to be created on the first column of the table. If you attempt to create an index on any field but the first, you will receive the following error message:

Illegal index definition
Unique indexes may be created on the first column using the table name as the index name. If you attempt to create an index with a name that does not exactly match the table name, you will receive the error message:
Paradox primary index name must match table name.
