XL5: Incorrect Limit on Number of Solver Constraints

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 5.0

On page 567 of Microsoft Excel 5.0 users guide, the third bullet item from the top of the page states the following:
For each problem, you can specify two constraints for each changing cell (one upper-limit and one lower-limit constraint), plus up to 200 additional constraints.
This limit on constraints is incorrect. The correct number of additional constraints, as indicated in the Microsoft Excel Help, is 100. If you enter more than 100 constraints, you will receive the following alert message:
Too many constraints
For more information about Adding, Changing, Or Deleting Constraints in Solver, choose the Search button in Help and type:
Solver Constraints
