The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Excel, when you format data labels for a chart series, you receive a general protection (GP) fault if the chart type of another series in the chart is either pie or doughnut. CAUSE
This problem occurs when the chart contains multiple chart types, where one
of the chart types is pie or doughnut, and you change the formatting of the
data label for a series with a chart type other than pie or doughnut.
Additionally, the GP fault only occurs when you format the data labels for
a series immediately preceding or following the series that is of pie or
doughnut type. WORKAROUND
To avoid receiving a GP fault when you format the text in a data
label on a chart under the conditions described above, do either of
the following:
-or- STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in a later version of Microsoft Excel.
