The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Excel, when you click the mouse cursor in an Edit box on a dialog sheet, and then run the dialog box, you receive a general protection (GP) fault if there is another open window that contains the dialog sheet. CAUSE
This behavior only occurs if multiple windows of the workbook that contains
the dialog box are open, you run the dialog box from a window other than
the first window of the workbook, and the mouse cursor is in the Edit box
when you run the dialog box. You receive the GP fault whether you run the
dialog box by choosing the Run Dialog button from the Forms toolbar, or the
Run Dialog command from the Tools menu. WORKAROUNDSTo avoid receiving a GP fault when you display a dialog box, select an item on the dialog sheet other than the Edit box before you run the dialog box.STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in
