"Invalid Name" When Adding Index to Btrieve Table

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Query version 1.0, when you create an index for a Btrieve table, if you are using the Btrieve ODBC driver, version 1.01.2115, that is shipped by Microsoft, you may receive one of the following error messages:

Invalid Name.
-or-
[Microsoft][ODBC Single-Tier Driver][ODBC File Library]Invalid name.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Query version 1.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

The Btrieve ODBC driver version 1.01.2115 is available as part of a fulfillment kit offer, which contains ODBC version 1.0 drivers, and can be obtained by calling the Microsoft Order Desk at (800) 360-7561 and request the Btrieve driver.
