XL5: Click on Sheet Tab May Remove Sheet from Workbook

SYMPTOMS

When you add enough menus to the worksheet menu bar to cause it to wrap, or when you remove all the menus so that the menu bar is blank, and you then click a module tab with the mouse, the selected module sheet is removed and is placed either in a new workbook or in another open workbook. This behavior occurs even with blank module sheets in a new workbook.

NOTE: This problem does not occur if you use CTRL+PAGEUP or CTRL+PAGEDOWN instead of clicking the module tab to switch between sheets.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when the workbook window is not maximized to full screen.

WORKAROUND

To ensure that the worksheet remains in the workbook, always have your workbook window maximized to full screen.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel version 5.0c for Windows.
