XL: Footer in Print Report Incorrect

ID: Q124095

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 5.0, 5.0c
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows 95, versions 7.0, 7.0a

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, when you create a report from more than one view and attempt to print that report using a "Page # of #" formatted header or footer, the total number of pages (#) is not correct. The total number will be the number of pages in the view being printed and not the total number of pages in the report.

CAUSE

There is no way to set the total for "Page # of #," because Microsoft Excel treats each view as a separate print job and is , therefore, unable to add up the total number of pages to be printed.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
