SUMMARYIn Microsoft Excel 5.0 for Windows, you will receive a general protection (GP) fault if you choose the Finish button in the Function Wizard before entering the required arguments for any of the functions included in the Microsoft Query (XLQUERY.XLA) or ODBC (XLODBC.XLA) add-ins. The Function Wizard is context sensitive: when you type the function name in a cell, and choose Function from the Insert menu, the last step of the Function Wizard appears with the required arguments for the function. If you use this context-sensitive method and choose the Finish button without entering a required argument, you will receive a GP fault. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel for Windows version 5.0c.
