SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Excel, if you display the Go To dialog box while the insertion point is in the Function Wizard dialog box, you may receive a general protection (GP) fault. CAUSE
This problem occurs if the Function Wizard dialog box is open, and you
activate a different workbook, and then display the Go To dialog box by
pressing F5 or by choosing Go To from the Edit menu. WORKAROUND
To avoid receiving a GP fault when you use the Function Wizard dialog box
to insert a function in a workbook and you reference a range of cells in
another workbook for one of the arguments, use either of the following
methods. BOOK2.XLS!testwhere BOOK2.XLS is the name of the workbook that contains the named range. Method 2: Use cell references instead of the range name by doing the following:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel version 5.0c.
