XL: Opening Quattro Pro WB1 File Causes Invalid Page Fault

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, when you open a .wb1 file that contains bitmaps, you receive the following error message:

Excel caused an Invalid Page Fault in Module XLQPW.DLL at <XXXX:XXXXXXXX>


CAUSE

This problem occurs when the file was saved from Quattro Pro for Windows. The Invalid Page Fault error message is caused by bitmaps that are embedded in the Quattro Pro file.


WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, open the file in Quattro Pro for Windows and delete the bitmaps. After you delete the bitmaps, you should be able to open the file without error.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Query 97 for Windows. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 1 (SR-1). For information about how to obtain this service release, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
