XL: Breakpoints Assigned to Buttons May Not Stop Macro

ID: Q142418

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows 95, version 7.0
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, version 5.x
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, versions 5.0, 5.0a

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, a breakpoint that you assign to a button in a custom dialog box may fail to stop the macro.

MORE INFORMATION

When you assign a macro to a button in a custom dialog box, you can use the Show method to display another custom dialog box. If you use a button in the first dialog box to display the second dialog box, a breakpoint that you assign to a button in the second dialog box fails to stop the macro. However, if you use the Run Dialog button on the Forms toolbar to display the second dialog box, or if you run a macro without starting it with a button in a custom dialog box, the breakpoint does stop the macro.
