SYMPTOMSWhen you open a text file in Microsoft Excel the Text Import Wizard may not run and your data will be opened, unparsed, into column A of your worksheet. CAUSEYou may experience the above behavior if both of the following are true:

To resolve this issue so that the Text Import Wizard runs when you open a
text file, remove your current version of the Virus Search add-in, obtain
version 1.2 from the Microsoft World Wide Web site, and install this
version on your computer:
STATUSThis problem was corrected in version 1.2 of the Microsoft Excel Virus Search add-in, Xlscan.xla. MORE INFORMATIONTo determine if version 1.2 of the Virus Search add-in is installed on your computer, in Microsoft Excel click Open on the File menu. Select any file that contains a macro and then click Open. If the title bar of the next dialog box does not contain "Version 1.2", you have a version other than 1.2. NOTE: The above steps for checking your version of the Virus Search add-in assume you have the add-in listed as installed in the Add-Ins dialog box in Microsoft Excel.When you have version 1.2 of the Virus Search add-in installed on your computer and you open a text file in Microsoft Excel, the following dialog box will appear: This file is a text file that does not contain a virus. To open thisand you can click OK or Cancel. If you click OK, the Open dialog box will appear. Click your text file and then click the Open button to start the Text Import Wizard. If you click Cancel, the Text Import Wizard will not run and your file will not be opened.
