  • The frozen or split panes are removed from the worksheets in the file.

  • The active cell is not visible on the screen, and you have to scroll through the worksheet to view the cell.

CAUSE

These problems occur if you save the file in the Lotus 1-2-3 WK3 or WK4 file format.

NOTE: This problem does NOT occur if you save an individual worksheet in the Lotus 1-2-3 WK1 file format, close, and then reopen the worksheet.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods:

  • If you are using only a single worksheet, try saving the worksheet in the Lotus 1-2-3 WK1 file format.

Note that the WK1 file format does not support many advanced features, such as drawing objects, complex formatting, and so on, so use this workaround with caution.

  • -or-

  • Manually insert the split or frozen panes (click Split or Freeze Panes on the Window menu) when you reopen the file in Microsoft Excel.

STATUS
