MORE INFORMATION

When you retrieve external data into a worksheet in Microsoft Excel, you can control how the external data behaves by displaying the External Data Range Properties dialog box. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Select a cell in the range that contains external data.

  2. On the Data menu, point to Get External Data, and click Data Range Properties. Or, click the Data Range Properties tool on the External Data toolbar.

If you clear the Save Query Definition check box, Microsoft Excel removes the settings you used to connect to the external data, and you can no longer refresh the external data.
