XL98: How to Use Custom Chart Types Created in Microsoft Excel 5.0

SUMMARY

When you install Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, custom chart types that you have created in Excel 5.0 are not moved to Excel 98. This article contains information about using the custom chart types that you created in Excel 5.0 in Excel 98.

To move your custom chart types to Excel 98, follow these steps:

  1. Start Excel 98.


  2. On the File menu, click Open. Open the following folder:

    System Folder:Preferences:Excel Startup Folder (5)


  3. Click Excel Chart Autoformats (5), and then click Open.


  4. On the Chart menu, click Chart Type.


  5. Click the Custom types tab in the Chart Type dialog box.


  6. Under Select From, click User-defined.


  7. Click Add. Type the name for the custom chart type in the Name box. Type the description for the custom chart type in the Description box. Click OK to add the custom chart type.


  8. Click OK to dismiss the Chart Type dialog box.

    Repeat steps 4 through 7 for each sheet in the Excel Chart Autoformats (5) file.


The custom chart types that you created in Excel 5.0 are available for use in Excel 98.
