SYMPTOMSThe name of a drawing object that appears in the Name Box appears to be incorrectly incremented after you draw an object on a worksheet. CAUSE
When Microsoft Excel names a drawing object on a worksheet, it uses a name
that includes a number. This number is incremented by one digit each time
you create a drawing object. When you add a drawing object (for example, a
rectangle) to a worksheet, Microsoft Excel assigns a name to the object
(for example, "Rectangle 1"), which is displayed in the Name Box. When you
create another drawing object on the same worksheet (for example, an oval),
Microsoft Excel assigns a name that includes a number that is one greater
than the number used to name the first object (for example, "Oval 2").
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition. REFERENCESFor more information about Drawing Objects, click Contents And Index on the Help menu (or on the Balloon Help menu if you are using a version of the Macintosh operating system earlier than 8.0), click the Index button in Microsoft Excel Help, type the following text drawing objects, overviewand then click Show Topics. Select the "Graphics on worksheets and charts" topic, and click Go To. If you are unable to find the information you need, ask the Office Assistant.
