XL98: Run-Time Error '1004' Exporting HTML File

SYMPTOMS

When you click Finish in the "Internet Assistant Wizard - Step 4 of 4" dialog box, you may receive the following error:

Run-time error '1004':

The formula you typed contains an error.

- For information about fixing common formula problems, click Help.
- To get assistance in entering a function, click OK, then click Function on the Insert menu.
- If you are not trying to enter a formula, avoid using an equal sign (=) or minus sign (-), or precede it with a single quotation mark.
Your only options are to click End or Help.


CAUSE

This problem will occur if the name of the hard disk that you are exporting the HyperText Markup Language (HTML) file to contains a quotation mark (").


WORKAROUND

Change the name of your hard disk so that it does not contain a quotation mark.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition.


MORE INFORMATION

The HTML file is created successfully despite the error message.
