XL98: Patterned Cells Print Solid Black

SYMPTOMS

If you print cells with patterned formatting on a black and white printer, the printer prints the cells as solid black instead of patterned.


CAUSE

This problem may occur when the following conditions are true:

  • The cells on your worksheet are blue or dark blue.


  • -and-

  • The cells are formatted with patterns.



WORKAROUND

To prevent this problem from occurring, do not color cells blue or dark blue when using patterns. To change the color of a cell to something other than blue or dark blue, follow these steps:

  1. Select the cells colored blue.


  2. On the Format menu, click Cells, and then click the Patterns tab.


  3. Under Color, click another color you would like to use, and then click OK.



STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition.
