XL98: Changing Legend Key Color Does Not Change All Segments

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel 98, when you change the legend key color of a doughnut chart, only one segment of the data series changes color instead of the entire data series.


CAUSE

This problem occurs when you do the following:

  • You create a doughnut chart with more than one value in each data series.


  • -and-

  • You change one of the legend key colors on the doughnut chart.



WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, format each segment of the doughnut chart to the desired color separately. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Series of the chart that contains the segment you want to format. After the Series is selected, click the segment that you want to format to select the segment.


  2. On the Format menu, click Selected Data Point.


  3. In the Format Data Point dialog box, click the Patterns tab. In the Area section, click the desired color and then click OK.



STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition.
